Group Ride Levels

We offer analog & e-bike rides in several categories. Within our ride posts, you can expect to see ride details such as distance, elevation, technical difficulty, and pace for each of our rides within Instateam so you will know which ride is right for you. Here is a ride legend to assist riders in determining where they fit in best within our group ride offerings.

Beginner (Green)

  • These are designed for riders who do not have experience riding singletrack trails or have a lower fitness level. They will feature a slower pace and more frequent rests throughout.
  • What to expect: Trail rides along gravel pathways or dirt singletrack. Obstacles might include roots, small rocks, berms, and gentle climbs.
  • These rides are intended to build rider confidence in their bike handling skills on various types of low-risk terrain. Ride leaders will provide a supportive and fun environment to test your skills.
  • E-bikes are welcome, and we request you ride in “ECO” on these.

Intermediate (Blue)

  • These are designed for riders who have prior experience riding singletrack trails and are looking to grow their abilities and trail knowledge. These riders have more physical endurance to go further and climb higher than beginners but are still looking for a casual pace with rests along the way.
  • What to expect: Trail rides on dirt singletrack with extended climbing and longer descents. Obstacles might include roots, large rocks, short steep descents, and optional jumps and drops.
  • These rides are intended to sharpen your riding skills and comfort with technical features while expanding your trail knowledge. Ride leaders will provide a supportive and fun environment to expand your skills.
  • E-bikes are welcome.

Advanced (Black)

  • These are designed for physically fit riders with plenty of singletrack experience who can handle a greatly increased pace, steep downhill trails, and technical features without hesitation. We require e-bike riders who join this group to be proficient in all aspects of riding technical singletrack as descents will be difficult and require confidence.
  • What to expect: Trail rides on dirt singletrack with extended climbing, few rest breaks, and long, technical descents. Obstacles will include roots, large rocks, long steep descents, mandatory jumps and drops, and optional wood trail features.
  • These rides are intended to test the extent of a rider’s skill and push the boundaries of their physical fitness. Ride leaders will provide a supportive and fun environment as you push your abilities to the limits!
  • E-bikes are welcome.

E-bike (Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced)

  • These rides follow the same guidelines as above but are designed to have more distance or greater elevation than the main group rides as they can cover a greater range in less time.
  • E-bike rides will welcome mid-fat AND full-fat e-bikes but we recommend mid-fat riders be physically fit to keep up with the increased pace of the larger e-bike batteries.
